When Guacamelee came out in 2013 for Playstation 3 and Playstation Vita, nobody was expecting it to be amounting to much. It was thought to be a typical action game with a cliché story, but then surprisingly, over the course of the first months, it turned out to be a big hit. It was one successful game so to say, and it managed to get a following, which led to the creators creating a steam account online for Guacamelee and there you are able to buy costumes, weapons, and the likes. It has been nominated as one of the best indiecade games for 2012, and then was also nominated for the Independent Games Festival in 2013 for Best visual arts. With all these success on hand, it was only a matter of time that the developers of the game, Drinkbox Studios, would create a follow up of this amazing Mexican-themed game. And finally this 2014, we are going to be seeing the release of Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition.
Now what does this New Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship edition has to offer its fans? Let us take a quick view on the things it has in store:
– New Levels! We are talking of two extra levels which will surely make Tostada and Juan happy luchadors in the process!
– -New Costumes – The game would not be complete with its luchador costumes, and here in Guacamelee Super Turbo Championship edition, you will really feel like wrestlers with all these new colorful costumes available to buy online.
– New tunes! Music will never be the same for this game, and it literally is new.
– An extra Save Slot – no more worries about wanting to save more progress right?
– Creepy hanging dolls! Well, the term creepy is alright enough…
– INTENSOO! So intense that it will really boost Tostado and Juan’s power to the max levels
– A cute new NPC!.- Did I say cute? Or is it just a character with a very big head?
– Pollo Egg bombs – one word… SPLATOOM!
– A new Dimension switching ability…let us just call it..SHADOW SWAP.
– Last and not the least of course, we added the name Super Turbo Championships for a good reason….to make sure that it is known as Guacamelee, Super Turbo Championship Edition. A longer but better name right?
As you can see, there are new things to look forward to this game. And if you loved the game in the beginning, you will surely find this new addition as a good addition.
Since this is the new power level, it is appropriate to give some time to explain this to the players.
When you activate the intense ability, what you will see first is a bolt of lightning that will strike Juan or Tostada. Now it will not kill them, but it will actually burn them. But it is more like they are on fire! This will give Juan and Tostada boosts in speed and power, allowing them to decimate enemies with ease, even if it is those giant skeletons. While in the process, you also unleash a soccer announcer like yell called the Intenso Yell, and it certainly is much more cooler with that effect.
Nominated for the Independent Games Festival in 2013 for Best visual arts.
But what is the catch for this amazing power? You actually have to work for it to attain it. Work means that you will have to fill up your intense meter by using combo techniques, or just breaking those barrels scattered around the guacamelee world. When it fills up, only then can you use the Intenso Ability. And once active, it drains until the meter run to empty. But it does not necessarily drain while you are fighting, but only when you are moving around without punching or kicking and flying at enemies.
There are also upgrades that can be done to your intenso to make it much more stronger and more efficient. You can purchase upgrades in the store like for example the INTENSO health regen, which gains your life back while Intenso is active. And of course, my favorite, which is the INTENSO shield breaker, which will allow you to bypass shield, even from some bosses to make your hits much more effective in the process. There are a lot of other upgrades you can purchase or buy, but of course I don’t want to spoil everything in here. You had better get this game to know more about the stuff I am talking about.
A bit of good news for all the Guacamelee fans out there is that the game is now released and it started July 1, 2014. And as an additional fun for all people, the game is released not only for PS4, but also for Xbox One and Xbox 360 too. According to information, it also has Wii U too, so no disappointment for the Wii users. The prices for the game is $14.99, making it a very good sell for this game.
