The iPhone 8 feels like the same old iPhone 7. It is still your typical model, with rounded corners and curved edges. The aluminum back that we are seeing since the iPhone 6 is new, which has been deprived of a glass panel. Apple has offered the iPhone 8 with IP67 water resistance; it is a fantastic feature that is becoming a trend on flagship phones. Apple has redefined this look in couple of years’time, so it is highly polished. You are familiar with this old look, and this phone does not offer anything else.
The iPhone 8 is bigger than its previous ones, but it resembles the iPhone 7 model. The notable change is that the aluminum back has made way to glass, making it a bit heavier. It is said to be strong and durable.
iPhone 8 has got a bright display, operating smoothly in a variety of lighting situations, and is most probably the best IPS LCD we have seen. It is comfortable to read on for hours and movies and games look great on it. As of now the total experience is really good.
While the design and display stays largely unchanged, the iPhone 8 is packing some powerful hardware under cover. The brand new A11 Bionic chip is lightning fast. It joins two high performance cores, with four high efficiency cores and has a GPU inside, designed by Apple. You will find the iPhone 8 to be slick and fast in navigation, application handling, and games. There is no doubt that, this is a tough device. iOS 11 is a handy operating system, that is very easy to understand and use. There is a touch of class to everything starting from the zoom checking in and out of applications and many other key features.
The iPhone 8 comes with a 12 mega pixel main camera, along with f/1.8 aperture, optical image stabilization and HDR. It is designed to just point and shoot and most of the times, you will get a nice click. You can try out it in a variety of different lighting conditions, indoor and outside and you will surely say it takes great shots. Apple has swiftly tweaked colors to increase the saturation, as compared to the previous model. But it is one of the few trending aspects where the iPhone 8 can be outclassed. It is a major issue that you do not get portrait mode, or the catchy new portrait lighting feature. There is a satisfactory 7 mega pixel front camera with f/2.2 aperture, to sort things out and it will provide effective support during video calls and selfie.
This is a suitable update over the previous model of iPhone 7. Though as good as it is, the jump of $50 in the starting price does not make proper sense. It could have been better with a 5 inch OLED with a 1080p resolution. The performance and battery life stands out. There are some features that the iPhone X has, that we would love to use, like the portrait mode selfies and the portrait mode on the back camera. The bigger and more colorful screen on the smaller handset sounds awesome, but you will understand that it is not wider, than what we get on the iPhone 8.
